What changes in your brain when you eat fish?

Study reveals that weekly fish consumption inhibits Alzheimer's

We have talked several times, how the consumption of fish is good for the heart, prevention of cancer, anxiety and depression, among others. Now, recent research states that eating fish can help inhibit Alzheimer's symptoms.

A doctor at the University of California, Los Angeles, found that eating fish can make the cerebral cortex denser. This is directly linked to increased resistance to Alzheimer's disease.

Dr. Cyrus Raji is responsible for research that was published in the American Journal of Preventive Medicine. To help strengthen the cerebral cortex, it is necessary to eat fish at least once a week. Consuming grilled, baked or boiled fish favors a greater amount of gray matter in the brain areas that take care of memory and cognition in both old and young people.

According to research, eating fish once a week increases the area responsible for memory and learning, known as the hippocampus, by about 14 percent.

It is usually remembered the consumption of fish for ingestion of polyunsaturated fatty acids. But while omega 3 is really beneficial in its antioxidant, anticancer, vasodilatory, and anti-inflammatory functions, the positive effects on the brain and memory are not directly linked to this fatty acid.

Therefore, it is important to include fish in the diet, not only for the benefits of omega 3, but also for the positive reflexes in memory and resistance to Alzheimer's.
